Marco Orrantia Announces Campaign for Texas Democratic Party Chair

Longtime Grassroots Democratic Party Activist, Union Leader, and Army Combat Veteran launches "Marco for Y'all - Orrantia for Chair" state officer campaign to build a more accessible, transparent, and accountable Texas Democratic Party.

Austin — Marco Orrantia officially announces his candidacy for Chair of the Texas Democratic Party. Running under the banner "Marco for Y'all," Orrantia brings an experienced, military, and campaign veteran leadership style that is service-oriented and seeks to empower and collaborate with others. Orrantia is a workhorse, not a show pony.

"We are ensuring that the party grassroots and allied groups have a seat at the table for true collaboration," said Orrantia. “We must be an organization that serves all 254 Counties in Texas, capable of winning elections by providing critical resources, empowerment, and training.”

“Texas Democrats are at a critical moment, and we cannot afford to continue operating with disorganization, internal division, and a lack of transparency,” Orrantia said. “Our values as Democrats are rooted in fairness, dignity, transparency, and fighting for working people. If we cannot reflect those values within our own organization, it becomes much harder to convince voters across Texas that we are prepared to fight for them.”

Orrantia’s "Path to Victory" at the Texas Democratic Convention, June 25-27, at the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi, focuses on persuading and organizing a broad coalition of regional, demographic, and issue-based Democratic State Convention Delegates who are committed to winning this November, and to ensure the party’s progress.

The official launch of Orrantia’s campaign for state party chair follows the conclusion of Tuesday’s Texas Joint Primary Runoff Election, where the parties in Texas selected their remaining nominees for the November general election.
