About

  • Marco Orrantia has dedicated his life to service: first in uniform, and then in organizing and political work across Texas.

He served our country twice in combat as a gay man under Don't Ask, Don't Tell, understanding firsthand what it means to sacrifice for something bigger than yourself, even when the system does not fully recognize you. That experience shaped his leadership style: disciplined, mission-focused, and grounded in resilience.

  • Marco grew up in El Paso with a unique understanding of the diverse communities that make up this state. His background allows him to connect with Texans whose voices are too often overlooked: rural communities, working-class families, young voters, minority communities, LGBTQIA+ Texans, and grassroots organizers who are doing the work every single day.

His story reflects the story of Texas itself: resilient, diverse, hardworking, and ready for something better.

As a union steward, Marco organized alongside fellow workers to fight for fair treatment, dignity on the job, and protections for working families. He understands that strong organizations are built from the ground up by people who feel heard, respected, and empowered.

That same philosophy guides his vision for the party: invest in people, support local leaders, and create lasting infrastructure that endures beyond a single election cycle.

  • For the last fifteen years, Marco has worked with hundreds of campaigns across Texas, helping elect Democrats and build the operational infrastructure needed to compete statewide.

For the last decade, he served inside the Texas Democratic Party, giving him firsthand experience with both the party’s successes and its shortcomings. He understands how the organization functions internally, where resources are falling short, and what it will take to run operations effectively, rebuild trust, and create a more transparent party.
